Thanksgiving Table Felt Rosettle Napkin

Felt Rosellte Napkin Rings

On Thanksgiving the turkey takes center stage, but I still love setting the scene with a beautiful table. As we count down to Thanksgiving I’ll be sharing budget-friendly ideas for creating holiday tablescapes, starting with these pretty felt napkin rings.

I wanted to use a soft, nature-inspired, color palette and I thought cream and sage would look warm and welcoming on a Thanksgiving table.  The combination of felt and jute twine is rustic yet refined — and oh-so pretty!

The secret behind these napkin rings is what they’re made with — paper towel tubes — so simple and inexpensive. Check back for place card and centerpiece ideas that compliment this neutral fall theme.

Here’s what you’ll need to make:

  • 1 Paper towel tube
  • Felt – 9″ x 12″ pieces in colors like green, cream, white, oatmeal
  • Jute twine
  • Hot glueScissors
  • Ruler

1. First make your rosettes. You will need one rosette for each napkin ring. I made my rosettes from cream, white and oatmeal felt. Cut strips of felt 1 1/2″ wide by 9″ long.

Put a dot of hot glue on the short edge of the felt strip and fold it over, creating a point. This point will be the center of your rosette. Hold the end of this triangle while you fold and roll the remaining felt around it.

2. With each rotation add a dot of hot glue to the loose end to hold it in place. Keep folding the felt and rotating the triangle to create the spiral effect.

3. Here’s another look at the rosette as you get closer to the end. Just remember to wrap and roll as you turn the rosette and glue to secure. Make all four rosettes and set them aside to dry.

4. Use a ruler to measure 1 1/2″ rings on your paper towel tube. Cut out four 1 1/2″ rings.

5. Now measure the green felt, 1 1/2″ wide strips, just like the paper towel tube. You will need 4 strips.

6. Here’s how your strip of felt and paper towel ring will look.

7.  Put a line of hot glue along the edge of the felt and glue it onto the paper towel ring. Wrap the felt around the ring so that it’s snug and then glue the felt, end to end and snip off the excess.

8. Now put a dot of hot glue along the seam of the felt. This is where you’ll glue on the Jute twine.

9. Press the twine into the felt and wrap it around the ring, gluing at the seam. Snip off any excess twine.

10. It’s time to glue the rosette to the napkin ring. You can glue the rosette right over the felt’s seam. This will hide any drippy glue. If the back of your flower is a little bit pointy you can easily trim it down with a scissor so that it will lay flat against the napkin ring. Put hot glue directly onto the rosette and then press that onto the napkin ring.

11. Pull a cloth napkin through each ring.
